Melayu Boleh!

Kak Ngah (my cousin in Muar) told me today about the 2 Malaysians angkasawan (astronauts) in training in Moscow. Despite my current l'état de chagrin, I googled their stories...

In a nutshell, Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor (Шейх Мусзафар Шукор), an orthopaedic doctor, and Faiz Khaleed (Фаиз бин-Халид), an army dentist are currently in NASA for further training after their current stint in Russia ended. The Malaysian government had yet to pick either one as the final candidate to blast off into space on the Russian Soyuz TMA-11 and visit the International Space Station in October 2007...

Remember Robert Browning who said "Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a heaven for?"
Sheikh & Faiz, Reach for the Stars! Melayu Boleh!

ps: While you're tracing your way through the constellation, pls bring back drops of Jupiter for this old soul...

The essence of French aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupery's most famous novel, 'Le Petit Prince' is contained in the line uttered by the fox to the Little Prince: "On ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur, l'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux" (It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye).
The fox was also right when he said, "It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important".

Alas, reality bites... humans are sometimes stupid. We don't see with our heart.
I saw this poster in a geologist friend's room and I can't help but smile.

Quel humuor!

MSF

I want to be a part of the Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) team [http://www.msf.org/] but before that, I must toil...

Heights by great men reached and kept were not obtained by sudden flight but, while their companions slept, they were toiling upward in the night.

Kehilangan : Lost

Ika & Din left on Sat night, soon it will be Zai...
Dearest family members, my heart was heavy when you left and my eyes were moist all of Saturday night and Sunday.
I felt a great sadness and lost.
Thanks Steve for flying in from Pittsburgh to bid farewell.
Thanks Zop for driving your family from Delaware to join us @ Kenduri.
Thanks Israd for leading us in our last prayer together.
Thanks Syahrul for holding my hand as we walked and sobbed in Newark Airport carpark.
I love you all...

The Thorn Bird

There's legend about a bird
which sings just once in its life.
More sweetly than any other creature
on the face of the earth.
From the moment it leaves the nest,
it searches for a thorn tree
and doesn't rest until it found one.
Then singing among the savage branches,
it impales itself upon the longest, sharpest spine.
And dying, it rises above its own agony
to out-carol the lark and the nightingale.
And the whole world stills to listen
and God in His heaven smiles.
For the best is bought only at the cost of great pain.
So says the legend...

Apparently, I went through life missing watching The Thorn Birds

Hida & Suri's Mum

Hidayah has about 96% same face recognition as Katie Holmes!
Hmm... so who's your Tom Cruise Hidayah? *grin...
